About Jamie House, LPC

Jamie began working with adolescents and families at the Department of Juvenile Justice. During his time there, he began to understand trauma and its influence on adjustment using strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Approaches, and Group Therapy.

Jamie has facilitated groups on Anger Management and Stress Management; receiving training in such programs as Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS) and Drug Education for Youth (DEFY). SPARCS is a manually guided and empirically supported group treatment designed to improve the emotional, social, academic, and behavioral functioning of adolescents exposed to chronic interpersonal trauma and/or separate types of traumas.  

Jamie was also part of The Navy and Marine Corps initiative of Drug Education for Youth (DEFY). DEFY delivered leadership and life skills training to kids by teaching team building, conflict resolution skills and techniques, appropriate age goal-setting, and increasing self-confidence.  

Education

Jamie is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degrees from Purdue University. He earned his Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Jamie has completed many additional courses in the field of behavioral health that inform his knowledge of integrated approaches to understanding the impact of mental-health conditions on overall physical health, social adjustment and well-being.
